The Arc has many interesting and rewarding volunteer opportunities throughout the year. We have volunteers in leadership roles as well as event/fundraising assistants. Please review the job descriptions below and hopefully you will find a volunteer position that best suits your time and talent.

Board of Directors – The members of the Board are responsible and liable for the conduct of the business of The Arc of Moore County. Each member is empowered to employ and prescribe the duties of professional personnel as required to administer the activities of the agency. The Arc seeks to ensure a good balance of parents, self-advocates, professionals and community leaders on its’ Board of Directors, all of whom are willing and able to be actively involved in promoting and supporting activities of The Arc.

First In Families Management Team – First In Families (FIF) links individuals with I/DD and their families with community resources unavailable to them through the traditional system and funding sources. Team members are responsible for the design, monitoring, and oversight of all Chapter policies and activities. The team consists of family members of people with disabilities, self-advocates, professionals working with people with disabilities, and community leaders. Each member serves for a two-year term and can serve three consecutive terms.

Operation Santa Assistants – FIF holds an annual toy drive and distribution for families supported by the chapter. Volunteers are needed to help with the compilation of children’s wish lists, distribution of lists to members of the community, and coordination and organization of donated gifts to be distributed to the families before Christmas. Volunteers are needed in Mid-October through the second week in December.

Fundraising Event Volunteers – Throughout the year we hold various fundraisers which may include luncheons, BBQ’s, Ladies Night Out, Fashion Shows, Golf events and the like, to raise necessary funding for The Arc to carry out its mission. It is often necessary to form committees to plan and execute each endeavor. Volunteers are needed prior to and throughout each fundraiser to ensure a widely publicized, well attended, and fun event. Aktion Club Advisors/Assistants – The Aktion Club is a service leadership program of Kiwanis International. The local club is co-sponsored by The Kiwanis Club of the Sandhills and Seven Lakes Kiwanis Club. Advisors are asked to assist members with meeting and fundraising planning, as well as assisting with each monthly meeting and the annual convention.

Joyful Noise Event Assistant – Volunteers assist the Musical Director of the group in set up, preparation and take down after performances of the chorus and handbell choir. Performances are generally held throughout the year but most often during the holiday season.

Book Club Assistant – Volunteers assist the group leader during monthly meetings.
